| Kamie's favorite recipe email Kamie Apple Crisp Here's my favorite dessert (it's a simple recipe for college students) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Pare, core or slice (I prefer to slice) into a 9-inch pie pan or dish: 4 cups of tart apples (braeburn apples are great!) Season with: 2 tablespoons of lemon juice Work like pastry with a pastry blender or with the fingertips: 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar 1/4 cup of butter (you could always use a little less) 1/2 teaspoon of salt (if the butter is unsalted) (optional: 1 teaspoon of cinnamon..I opt not to use this...) The mixture must be lightly worked so that it does not become oily. Spread these crumbly ingredients over the apples. Bake for about 30 minutes (or until you like how brown the crumbs are) Serve hot or cold with: Ice cream or sweet sour cream |
